Behind the cup

We are delighted to offer this coffee from India for the second time. Produced and processed by a father-and-son duo, this coffee embodies what excites us about Indian coffee. Tart pomegranate flavors are layered throughout the cup, complemented by full-bodied brown spice and subtle hints of white sugar. Citrusy and sweet marmalade notes linger throughout the drinking experience, creating a dynamic and balanced profile.

Farmlevel Story

Kerehaklu Estate, operating since 1953, is nestled in the biodiverse region near Chikmagaluru Karnataka. Run by Ajoy Thipaiah and his son Pranoy, the estate exemplifies a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of spending time with the Thipaiah family both on their farm and at industry events. Their philosophy of “balance” is not just a guiding principle but also a defining characteristic of their coffees.

Pranoy brings a youthful, interdisciplinary perspective that complements his father’s extensive experience managing the vast estate. He collaborates with like-minded brands, maintains a strong social media presence and actively participates in cutting-edge coffee processing courses.

Together, they have been instrumental in elevating Indian coffee to the global stage, showcasing a harmony between nature and nurture.

The estate’s approach seamlessly integrates art and science, with a strong emphasis on post-harvest fermentation and drying techniques. These efforts focus on improving lot replicability and enhancing quality.

Earlier this year, we were proud to feature our first coffee from Kerehaklu and now we’re delighted to present this Semi-Washed lot as our current Single Origin Espresso offering.
