Ethiopia Worka

This coffee comes from the collective efforts of 300 smallholder farmers in the Worka Cooperative, located in the Worka kebele of the Gedeb woreda. Grown at elevations reaching 2,400 meters, these coffees benefit from cool temperatures that encourage slow cherry maturation and produce small, dense seeds packed with flavor.

Using the traditional natural process, cherries are harvested and dried whole on raised beds before milling and size grading. The slow drying process intensifies the coffee’s fruity sweetness and helps lock in nuance. Throughout each step, the coffees are meticulously hand-sorted to remove defects, ensuring a clean and consistent final product. The results are vibrant and fruit-forward, a true reflection of the region’s potential.

Founded in 2005, the Worka Cooperative is a proud member of the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU). Serving over 45,000 smallholder farmers, the YCFCU plays a vital role in supporting coffee production across the Gedeo zone. It advocates for fair pay, equitable market access, and sustainable growth, working hand in hand with farmers to bring their coffees to quality-focused buyers.
