FARMLEVEL STORY

Coffee arrives at our roastery in the form of a dried green seed found formerly in the center of a tropical cherry. Neither soluble, pliable nor frangible (a material’s ability to be broken or, in this case, “ground”), green coffee has yet a way to go before becoming a roasted coffee “bean” that we’re able to, upon grinding, dissolve in water.

While our single-origin offerings are roasted to highlight the unique and seasonal characteristics that make them individually special, our blends, on the other hand, promise balance and consistency year-in, year-out. Our roasting team must adapt to any agriculture variability we find with the levers of temperature and time to uphold this promise.

Dark-roasted arabica coffee, in addition to boasting flavors characterized by caramelization and a full-bodied mouthfeel, demonstrates an intense, structured sweetness possible only from high-grown, high-density green coffee.

Coffee producers have their own methods that can make coffee special. We will always highlight our producers, cooperatives, and washing stations to provide farmlevel traceability.

Cultivar

Each cultivar has its own flavor profile. Not only is the taste different, but the actual coffee plant is different. Even the shape of the bean will vary between cultivars.

Processing Method

Coffee processing is crucial to the taste in the cup. Processing is done by the producer during the drying process. Most of our coffees are washed, but we always call out natural, honey, and experimental processes.

Elevation

Most of our coffees come from high elevation farms. Different cultivars thrive under different environmental factors. The elevation is a huge part of how well certain coffees will grow.

Brewing Suggestions

Buena Vista blend is decadent when brewed with a French Press. This brewing method enhances the qualities that make Buena Vista unique. The coffee lays on the tongue like a thin molasses, and it keeps its rich flavor as you sip throughout your morning routine.
